Officer Jay Durgin
School Resource Officer

After receiving a degree in criminal justice from SMVTI, I graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in 1996 and was hired as a police officer for the Town of Sanford, Maine.  I joined the Kittery Police Department in May of 1999 where I worked as a patrol officer for the town I grew up in. I worked the evening shift completing day-to-day tasks including police calls, alarms, traffic stops, domestics, and routine investigations.  In 2002, I started the first K-9 program for the town of Kittery where I handled two dogs for over 14 years.

In 2013, I joined the Kittery Schools as the School Resource Officer.  I enjoy helping students, faculty and parents with daily challenges and I find the relationships I build are lasting and important.

As a lifelong resident of the Town of Kittery I have a special bond with the Kittery schools. I often find my job unique having graduated with many of the parents whose children I now interact with on a daily basis.

Casey, my wife of 14 years, and I have two beautiful girls Keira (10) & Kyleigh (8) who both attend Kittery schools. For the past 12 years Casey has run a successful wedding and portrait photography business, and enjoys volunteering at the schools. We love spending time as a family at our camp in Northern Maine swimming, fishing, snowmobiling and enjoying the great outdoors.

I love being an integral part of this wonderful community, and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
