"BE CURIOUS; NOT JUDGMENTAL"
ALERT us to your SAFETY-RELATED concerns through our ANONYMOUS LINK
I have had multiple members of our amazing Kittery School Community approach both me and members of our staff asking how they might be able to help their neighbors in these challenging times.
I have attached two documents:
If you are looking for ways to help I have attached a list of volunteer and donation opportunities
If you are in need of help, there is a list of resources attached
We will get through this together.

Request for Citizen Members: We are seeking a Kittery Resident to become a member of our Facilities, Finance and Safety Committee. The committee meets once a month, typically on Monday mornings, and helps keep the district on track with issues related to our facilities, spending, and the safety plan. This is important work that helps keep the district running in tip top shape, and we are seeking community representation on this committee. If you are interested, or have any questions about what this may entail, please reach out to me, or Annie Cicero, School Committee Chair. Our contact information can be found on the Kittery School District website@kitteryschools.com

We had staff and students visiting from our sister city in Rokunohe, Japan. The Exchange Program began in 1993, with an agreement from Governor McKernan in 1995. The Kittery School District and the Tobu-Kamikita Education Research Council signed a sister school agreement. Over these years since 1995, hundreds of students and chaperones have traveled back and forth under this agreement. The goal of these visits is to nurture understanding between Japanese and American students as fellow human beings and to attain knowledge of each other’s history and culture.
The Japanese students stayed with host families who have students at Shapleigh School. There were multiple events this week, including a welcoming reception, a welcome assembly, visitations of classrooms by both students and adults, grade level lessons taught by our Japanese visitors, and a special Sayonara event that took place on Friday. Our visiting students also spent quality time with their host families getting to know more about life here in Kittery.

It was a delight to see visitors enjoying lunch with students at Mitchell Primary School at the "Special Person" luncheon. Our School Nutrition Kitchen Staff did an amazing job....thank you!
Advanced Art students had their portraits on display at the Ogunquit museum of art over the weekend. The portraits can now be found at Rice Library. The students worked all fall with an artist in residence to create these portraits.
Cold Weather and Winter Recess
Winter officially begins December 21st. Please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the changing temperatures during the winter months. They should have a warm coat, hat, gloves, snow pants, boots, and any other cold-weather gear needed to stay comfortable outside (waiting for the bus, recess, and walking to/from school).
It's important to us that all students are safe, warm, and ready to learn!
If your family needs assistance with providing warm, suitable clothing for your child, please contact the Principal's Office at your child's school.
Kittery Adult Education Program: Did you know that seven students have completed and nine more are working on their HiSET diplomas.
Great things are happening at Traip Academy's Expanded Learning Opportunities Program....Our boat building students are continuing to work on the Lumberyard Skiff and Lighthouse Tender.
CONGRATULATIONS to Anne Masury our Traip Academy Greenhouse Coordinator! The 2025 Maine's Distinguished Service Award winner! We are incredibly proud of you.
